Woman's remains recovered from refuse container in Chicago neighborhood
Authorities in Chicago launched a death probe after a female corpse was located inside a trash bin on the city's South Side.
The grim discovery occurred around 6:30 p.m. Saturday in an alley at West 54th Street and South Union Avenue, within the Back of the Yards district. Officers responding to the scene described the remains as being in an advanced state of decay.
Officials have withheld the victim's name pending formal identification. Residents in the vicinity speculate the body could belong to a neighborhood woman reported absent for multiple weeks.
Investigators from Area One are handling the case and expect autopsy results to clarify how the individual died. Police representatives offered no further comment on the ongoing inquiry.
