The department's emergency line rang just after 1:30 a.m. with a report of violence at the address. Responders arriving at the scene found a 28-year-old male lying with a severe cut to his throat. Medics pronounced him dead on site.

Those nearby reported spotting a young woman sprinting away from the dwelling shortly after the attack. Detectives tracked down and captured a suspect fitting that profile before the day ended.
