The England national football squad fell victim to a burglary just days before the World Cup tournament kicked off in the United States. Unknown individuals broke into vehicles that were transporting training gear from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Missouri.

According to Bild, the stolen items included footballs, boots, tactical boards, video analysis equipment, and massage tables. The loss of the players' custom-fitted boots is particularly problematic, as professional athletes at this level wear footwear specifically molded to their feet. A report in the Daily Mail suggested that only a single match ball remained after the raid.

The Kansas City Police Department has since taken two individuals into custody. The investigation remains ongoing. Security staff associated with the English team suspect, according to the Daily Mail, that drivers of the affected vehicles may have been involved in the incident.

The Three Lions, coached by Thomas Tuchel, open their tournament on Wednesday against Croatia.
