Second ICE Fatal Shooting in a Week: Immigration Agency Halts Vehicle Stops
A 26-year-old Colombian man was killed during an early Monday morning encounter with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Biddeford, Maine. An officer from the agency reportedly opened fire on the young man while he sat inside his vehicle. The incident marks the second fatal shooting during immigration operations in the span of just one week.
Residents in the small town said they heard gunfire and rushed outside to investigate. Witnesses described officers dragging a blood-covered body from a car. Nearby, a woman collapsed to her knees screaming, with a small child beside her. Neighbors identified the pair as the deceased man's partner and child.
Only days earlier, another person died during a deportation raid in Texas. In response to the two deadly encounters, ICE leadership has instructed field personnel to temporarily suspend vehicle stops while the agency reviews its tactics. The pause reflects growing concern over the use of lethal force during routine immigration enforcement actions.
