Local residents reported hearing gunshots and then observing officers removing a body covered in blood from a car. A female companion of the victim, believed to be his spouse, was seen kneeling and screaming nearby. A small child was with her at the scene.

The circumstances that prompted officers to open fire have not been fully disclosed. ICE has confirmed the victim's Colombian citizenship and age but has not released his name publicly.

This deadly shooting comes shortly after another immigration-related fatality. In a separate incident, a pedestrian attempting to escape from ICE agents on foot was hit and killed by a large commercial truck. Authorities indicated that individual possessed Mexican identification documents.

Following these two deaths, ICE leadership has directed personnel to temporarily cease conducting vehicle stops while internal reviews proceed. The directive marks a notable operational shift for the agency as questions mount regarding its arrest procedures and the level of force employed during routine immigration enforcement actions.
