Sharjah Police have detained a Kazakh national suspected of killing two Kazakh sisters in a residential apartment. The suspect confessed after being presented with evidence.

Google News UAE — Sharjah/Ajman/RAK reports that police in the emirate of Sharjah have detained a Kazakh national suspected of fatally attacking two sisters inside a residential apartment. Both victims were also Kazakh citizens.

Officers were alerted after receiving a report of a serious incident at the property. An investigation was launched, evidence was collected and the suspect was identified.

Brigadier General Khalifa Balhaï, director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police, said the sisters were acquainted with the detainee. A dispute arose between them which, according to the investigation, led to the deaths of the two women.

After being presented with the evidence gathered by police, the suspect confessed to the crime, Balhaï said. Legal measures were subsequently taken against him and the case file was referred to the prosecutor's office.

Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, commended the swift response of the officers involved. He also called on the public to rely on official sources for information and to refrain from spreading rumours.
