Far-right activist sentenced to 15 months' custody for assaulting RN elected official in Sarthe
Maxime Gaucher, who is on a police watchlist, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison, of which 15 are custodial, for striking and robbing Tim Bouzon, metropolitan councillor for Lyon.
Condemned for assaulting the elected official he suspected of being his deputy wife's lover
Maxime Gaucher, a far-right activist from Lyon on a police watchlist, was sentenced on Tuesday 25 August to 24 months in prison, of which 15 months are custodial, for violence with premeditation and theft. According to France Info and ICI Maine, which learned of the information from concordant sources, the victim is Tim Bouzon, a councillor for the Lyon metropolis and parliamentary assistant to RN deputy for Rhône Tiffany Joncour — Gaucher's wife.
A nocturnal assault in Sarthe
During the night of 19 to 20 August, Maxime Gaucher travelled to Neuville-sur-Sarthe, north of Le Mans, where Tim Bouzon was spending his holidays with friends at the home of Marie d'Herbais, a former press attaché for Jean-Marie Le Pen and ex-wife of Frédéric Châtillon, former president of the GUD, a far-right splinter group dissolved in 2024.
Arriving around 1:15 a.m., Gaucher encountered Bouzon near the home whilst the latter was out for a nocturnal run. He struck him and then stole his telephone. The victim was treated at Le Mans hospital and was prescribed five days of total incapacity for work (ITT).
Marie d'Herbais also filed a complaint following the intrusion at her home. She claims that Gaucher forced open the front door, which the man in question contests.
Arrest and express trial
Maxime Gaucher was arrested the following Saturday at his home in Rhône, before being brought before the Le Mans public prosecutor's office. An order to detain him was issued on Monday, according to a judicial source consulted by ICI Maine.
The criminal court sentenced him to 24 months in prison, of which nine months are subject to two years' probation, for violence with premeditation and simple theft of the telephone. He is therefore serving 15 months in custody. He is also banned from making contact with Tim Bouzon or visiting his home.
At 37 years old, Gaucher was already subject to a probationary suspension since January for undeclared work.
