Blood glucose monitor trafficking ring dismantled in Drôme and Isère: two men arrested
Two men were arrested on 24 August in Romans-sur-Isère with 88 blank prescriptions and stolen blood glucose monitors. Around fifty pharmacies are believed to have been defrauded.

According to Google News FR — Crime (fr), two men were arrested on Monday 24 August in Romans-sur-Isère, in the Drôme, after attempting to use a suspicious prescription at a city centre pharmacy to obtain blood glucose monitors.
The pharmacist immediately detected an irregularity in the document and discreetly alerted the Romans police. Officers apprehended the two suspects without resistance on the spot.
A search of their vehicle revealed a telling discovery: 88 blank prescriptions ready to be filled in, as well as several boxes of blood glucose monitors.
Dozens of pharmacies deceived across Drôme and Isère
Placed in police custody, the two men quickly confessed. Their operation extended well beyond Romans-sur-Isère: for several days, the duo had been travelling through the north of the Drôme département and neighbouring Isère, making stops notably in Peyrins, Vinay and Châtillon-Saint-Jean.
The method was well-rehearsed. These medical devices, highly sought after by diabetic patients, were subsequently resold on the black market at 90 euros per pair. In total, around fifty pharmacists are believed to have been victims of the fraud.
Summons to appear in court and obligation to leave the territory
One of the two suspects was in irregular status on French territory. He was served notice of an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF). The two men also received a summons issued by a judicial police officer (COPJ) in view of their forthcoming trial.
