A 45-year-old builder lost his life on Saturday when his bike was hit by a sedan on the Reliance Public Road in Region Two. The victim, Satesh Persaud—nicknamed "Tony"—lived at Lot 87 Reliance Housing Scheme.

The incident unfolded around 1:30 p.m. Investigators say Persaud was emerging from a side route and aiming to get across the main thoroughfare. At that moment, car PAB 8929—heading south at considerable velocity along the eastern lane—slammed into him.

The force of the wreck sent Persaud flying about 50 feet. He landed with critical cranial wounds and no consciousness. Members of the public who witnessed the scene conveyed him to Lima Regional Hospital, yet physicians could only confirm he had already died.

Police apprehended the person behind the wheel of the sedan. A roadside breath test reportedly showed 48 micrograms of alcohol—exceeding the permitted 36 micrograms. Officers have locked away the sedan and are continuing their probe. The apprehended individual remains jailed as the inquiry proceeds.
