A 36-year-old businessman from Alexander Village, Georgetown was detained by police on Tuesday in connection with an alleged plan to abduct a male individual.

A 36-year-old businessman residing in Alexander Village, Georgetown was taken into custody on Tuesday following an intelligence-driven police operation targeting an alleged kidnapping scheme.

According to a statement released by the police on Wednesday, ranks received information and launched an operation during which the suspect allegedly made arrangements to have a man seized. He reportedly handed over a sum of money as partial payment for the abduction.

After his arrest, the suspect was placed in police custody. A quantity of cash was also lodged as investigators continue to probe the matter.
