A commercial operator from the capital appeared before a magistrate to answer claims that he tried to arrange the seizure of another person against their will.

Avishkar Singh, 36, who lives in Alexander Village within Greater Georgetown, was escorted to the Georgetown Magistrate's Court on Friday. Presiding officer Faith McGusty authorised his release on a $1 million bond while the matter proceeds.

Detectives had taken Singh into custody earlier through a carefully planned sting based on information they had gathered. According to an official account, the suspect allegedly negotiated terms and forwarded a portion of the agreed fee to facilitate the unlawful capture of a male target. The funds exchanged during the arrangement were recovered by police and catalogued as evidence.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the case remain active.
