A 63-year-old resident of Perseverance, Essequibo Coast, was detained on Saturday when officers discovered an unlicensed .45 pistol and seven rounds of ammunition hidden in his bedroom during a house search.

A 63-year-old man living in Perseverance on the Essequibo Coast was taken into custody on Saturday following the discovery of an illegal firearm at his property.

As reported by News Room Guyana, officers were engaged in an operation around 10:30 in the morning when intelligence led them to a dwelling along Perseverance Public Road. They approached the homeowner, who works for himself.

While examining the house, the search team located a .45-caliber handgun tucked away in a sleeping quarters. The weapon came with a magazine holding seven live cartridges of the same caliber.

Law enforcement transported the individual to the Anna Regina Police Station, where the seized gun and bullets were officially recorded. The man is still being held as authorities continue their probe.
