Police in Guyana have arrested an 18-year-old and a 25-year-old following an armed robbery at gunpoint in Covent Garden New Scheme, East Bank Demerara.

An auto-body technician was robbed at gunpoint in Covent Garden New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, before police captured two suspects and recovered the stolen mobile phone.

According to a police statement reported by Kaieteur News, the victim was walking east along a road in the area when two assailants on a motorcycle approached him from behind. One of the riders dismounted, aimed a firearm at the technician, and seized the cell phone he was holding. The pair then fled the scene.

Law enforcement officers responded swiftly to the incident. Their rapid action led to the apprehension of two suspects, aged 25 and 18, along with the recovery of the victim's phone.

The incident took place in the Covent Garden New Scheme community on the East Bank of the Demerara River.
