Zeelugt: 23-year-old farmer arrested over killing of seven-year-old boy
A 23-year-old farmer from Zeelugt has been arrested in connection with the killing of seven-year-old Adriel Aftab Mohamed. His elderly great-grandmother was also stabbed during the early-morning attack.

A 23-year-old farmer has been arrested in connection with the killing of seven-year-old Adriel Aftab Mohamed in Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, newsroom.gy reports.
Police Headquarters confirmed in a release that the suspect, who also resides in Zeelugt, was taken into custody on Saturday and is currently assisting with investigations.
Adriel, a student at Zeelugt Primary School, was killed during a violent attack at his home in the early hours of Friday. A lone intruder allegedly entered the house at approximately 04:45 hrs while the boy was home with his 72-year-old great-grandmother.
The elderly woman, who had reportedly suffered a stroke and was unwell at the time, was attacked after the suspect allegedly demanded money. She was stabbed twice, including once to the neck, and remains hospitalised.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
