Headless corpse found in bushes in Cochabamba
Police are investigating the discovery of a human body, apparently decapitated, found in bushes on the side of the route to Santiváñez in the department of Cochabamba, according to El Deber. The remains, unclothed and in an advanced state of decomposition, were transferred to the Institute for Forensic Investigations (IDIF) for medical-legal autopsy.
Wilson Flores, commander of the Low Valley Police, confirmed that officers attended the scene after receiving the report and established that the corpse lacked a head.
During a sweep of the area, investigators found items of clothing, including shorts with an identity document in one of the pockets. The document is in the name of Juan Alejandro Sanguino Temo, aged 53, originally from Exaltación de Yacuma in the department of Beni.
Authorities are still verifying whether the document genuinely belongs to the man found. Identity must be confirmed through autopsy and additional forensic examinations, given that the state of decomposition prevents immediate identification.
According to preliminary information, the man may have been murdered and then abandoned at the location. Police are also investigating whether death occurred at the same site where the remains were found.
The Homicide Unit carried out the legal recovery of the corpse and initiated investigations to establish the circumstances of death, the possible motive, and the identity of those responsible. Investigators are also seeking to determine the whereabouts of the victim's head and whether the body was transported from another location.
The exact cause of death will be known once the medical-legal autopsy is completed. The case remains under investigation.
