Officers from Spain's National Police dismantled a cell of the youth group Dominican Don't Play (DDP) in the city of Zaragoza, proceeding to arrest 12 people. The joint operation by the General Information Directorate and the Zaragoza Regional Information Brigade aimed to dismantle an organisation suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, unlawful occupation of properties and electricity consumption fraud.
During the operation, carried out simultaneously in several locations, the authorities conducted two residential searches and recovered various items: bladed weapons, replica firearms, narcotic substances, precision scales, bandana-type scarves, personal mobility vehicles and technological equipment that will be analysed later.
The investigation began several months ago, when specialists in violent groups detected a growth in the organisation's activity in the Delicias and San José neighbourhoods, accompanied by a considerable increase in the number of recruits. The detainees formed a structure with clearly distributed functions, having progressively established themselves in different areas of the city and exercised influence over young people in the area.
According to information reported by Euronews, those arrested would have participated in multiple confrontations with rival gangs, including the Black Panther and the Trinitarios. Police sources indicate that the group's financing came mainly from drug trafficking and property crimes.
The 12 detainees were brought before the courts. The competent investigating judge remanded seven of them in custody. Spanish authorities do not rule out further arrests as the investigation continues.
