Petrol station robbery in Bormujos ends in arrest following intervention with electrical device
According to Google News ES — Crime (es), the Local Police of Castilleja de la Cuesta arrested a man on Tuesday morning allegedly linked to a robbery committed minutes earlier at a petrol station in Bormujos. Officers received a report of a possible altercation in one of the passages in Nueva Sevilla, in which one of those involved was carrying a large knife whilst another person was attempting to protect themselves with a fence.
A patrol unit immediately responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police located the individual, who was wielding the blade in a threatening manner. Faced with the risk, they drew their service weapons and repeatedly ordered him to drop the knife. The man ignored them and even turned the weapon against himself, threatening to stab himself.
In light of that situation, officers moved from their firearm to an electrical control device. After further warnings, they activated it and managed to neutralise the threat and detain the individual without serious consequences for either party.
Initial reports linked the arrested man to the robbery at the petrol station in Bormujos, where he allegedly had threatened a worker with the knife, demanded the contents of the till, and warned that he would assault her if she did not hand over the money. After obtaining the cash, he allegedly fled in the direction of Nueva Sevilla. The swift police intervention enabled the allegedly stolen money to be recovered.
The detainee, who has a criminal record and is identified in police records, was taken to police premises, where he received medical assistance. Appropriate legal procedures were then initiated for his presentation before the judicial authorities.
The Local Police of Castilleja de la Cuesta emphasised the importance of citizen collaboration, "essential for facilitating information about the location of the alleged perpetrator and helping to keep him located until the arrival of officers", according to police sources. The entire sequence — from the report to the arrest — took place within a matter of minutes.
