An inspection conducted at the airport revealed a suspicious entry attempt in spring 2025, in which foreigners were sold entry to Finland through a fabricated business operation. The Border Guard has referred the case for prosecution and suspects two residents of the country of organising illegal immigration and fraud.
According to the investigation, a man and woman offered consulting services to an Iranian couple. They are alleged to have promised to arrange restaurant ownership and residence permits for the targets. In return, they received over 30,000 euros.
In April, border guards stopped the Iranian couple at the airport, who presented business owner residence permit cards. However, in a more detailed investigation, it emerged that they were not actually conducting any business activity. Two months earlier, they had submitted documents to the authorities stating that they were owners associated with a restaurant.
The Immigration Service made a decision imposing a two-year entry ban on the couple. They were returned to their home country in early June.
