Femicide in Cher: victim's partner arrested five days after death
The partner of a 47-year-old woman found dead at Châteaumeillant was arrested on Friday morning, five days after the discovery of the body.
Arrest in Cher: suspect in Châteaumeillant femicide placed in police custody
The partner of a 47-year-old woman found dead at her home in Châteaumeillant, in Cher, was apprehended on Friday, 25 September at around 10:30 by the gendarmerie, according to franceinfo - Justice. The man, in his thirties, was placed in police custody and is suspected of femicide.
The gendarmes arrested him approximately ten kilometres north of Châteaumeillant, where he had been sought since the discovery of the body on Sunday evening. The information was confirmed by the Bourges public prosecutor's office in a statement sent to ICI Berry.
Death following "multiple traumatic injuries"
The victim's body was discovered at her home on the Sunday before the arrest. The autopsy, carried out on Monday, established that her death "is the result of multiple traumatic injuries", according to the Republic's prosecutor at Bourges, Céline Visiedo. The latter clarified that there are "no weapons or wounds".
An investigation was opened the following Tuesday for homicide by spouse. It was entrusted to the search division of the Bourges gendarmerie.
