A man has been charged with voluntary homicide after admitting to fatally stabbing a 19-year-old youth in Laon, in the Aisne.

Google News FR — Crime (fr) reports that a man was charged on Friday and remanded in provisional custody following the death of a 19-year-old youth in Laon, in the Aisne.
Jean-Baptiste Miot, prosecutor of Laon, stated that the accused "admits to being the sole perpetrator of the fatal knife blow, explaining that he acted in the context of a brawl". He was charged with voluntary homicide. The prosecutor specified that "the motive for the altercation remains uncertain at this stage".
The victim had been transferred to Laon general hospital for stab wounds that occurred during the night of Wednesday to Thursday, before dying there, according to the public prosecutor's office.
A second individual had also been held in police custody, but was released at the end of that period, as "no evidence at present could be held against him", the magistrate added. The information was communicated to the AFP on Saturday, 29 August.
