A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to five years' imprisonment following the discovery of weapons and narcotics at Saint-Planchers, in Manche.

Google News FR — Crime (fr) reports that a search carried out at Saint-Planchers, near Granville (Manche), uncovered large-scale drug trafficking, accompanied by an arsenal of firearms.
On 31 July 2026, police in Granville apprehended two young men: a minor, referred to the juvenile court, and an adult, tried in immediate appearance on 6 August. A third suspect, the brother of the minor, had fled. An arrest warrant led to his arrest in Deux-Sèvres on 22 August. Éric (*), 25, was presented under escort to Coutances court on 27 August.
Before the court, Éric admitted to distributing between 8 and 10 kg of cannabis resin as well as cocaine since April 2025. "I sell to dealers, I don't sell retail," he declared. He admitted to deriving his income from this trafficking, refused to comment on violence he may have suffered in this connection, and provided nothing beyond the elements contained in the investigators' report.
At his mother's home, where he was living, police seized 5 kg of cannabis resin, 17 sachets of cocaine, 1,290 € in cash, as well as several weapons including a war machine pistol. A second category A weapon was concealed in the bedroom of his seven-year-old sister. A bag containing seized items had furthermore been left behind by the officers; on their return, it had disappeared. Éric admitted to retrieving it and called into question the competence of the police.
The prosecution painted a severe portrait of the defendant: a criminal record containing ten entries, a complete absence of any expressed remorse, a lifestyle based on trafficking which he openly acknowledged. "The Granville region has been plagued by settling of scores linked to trafficking for several months, this must stop," declared the deputy prosecutor, who had sought five years' imprisonment with two years suspended on probation.
The court issued a sentence more severe than the prosecution's request: five years' imprisonment, a fine of 5,000 €, as well as the revocation of nine months of previous suspended sentence. Éric is furthermore prohibited from any contact with other persons involved in the trafficking for three years and from possessing a weapon for fifteen years.
