Violent disturbance in Sector 3: special forces mobilised after party-goers attack law enforcement

A party organised during the night of Monday to Tuesday at a residence in Sector 3 of the Capital degenerated into a violent conflict in which participants threw stones, bottles and glasses at police and gendarmes, according to ProTV News.

Law enforcement initially intervened following a call to 112 regarding excessively loud music. A fine was issued to one person and the participants temporarily complied. Later, around 23:00, a police patrol unit in the area discovered that music was being played at high volume again from the same location.

At the second intervention, approximately 30 people were present at the scene. Several participants adopted aggressive behaviour, hurling insults and moving menacingly towards the police and gendarmes. A 27-year-old man, who had also been fined at the first call, was restrained and handcuffed. As other people continued to approach threateningly, law enforcement used tear gas spray.

The situation escalated further when several participants threw stones, bottles and glasses at law enforcement, damaging a parked car in the area. To restore order, additional personnel were sent to the scene, with police units from Sector 3 being mobilised, officers from the Special Actions Service (SAS) and gendarme units, who also used tear gas.

"Through the coordinated intervention of law enforcement, the situation was quickly brought under control, public order and peace were restored, and the state of danger was eliminated," the Bucharest Police stated.

According to the same source, no police officer or gendarme was injured as a result of the intervention. A medical team was requested at the scene, but no person required medical care. The owner of the damaged car reserved the right to file a complaint within the timeframe provided by law.

Following the intervention, 13 people — 11 men and two women — were taken to the Sector 3, Section 23 Police headquarters for questioning and determination of legal measures. After order was restored, police and gendarme units remained in the area for preventive purposes.

The investigation is being continued by the Prosecutor's Office attached to Sector 3 Court, together with police officers from Section 23 Police, for insults in the form of threats and for disturbing public order and peace. Criminal investigation activities are ongoing, with all persons taken to the station undergoing specific procedures to clarify the situation.
