Four firearms and €131k in drugs seized in Limerick, man in his 60s arrested

Gardaí searched a house in Limerick city and recovered four firearms, ammunition, and over €131,500 in suspected drugs. A man in his 60s is in custody.

A man in his 60s is being detained at a Limerick city garda station after officers seized four firearms and more than €131,500 worth of suspected drugs during a house search, TheJournal.ie reports.

Members of the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by regional and local units, carried out the search under warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the area.

Among the items recovered were suspected cannabis edibles valued at more than €127,000, suspected cocaine estimated at €4,500, a quantity of cash, and four firearms along with ammunition.

The firearms are to undergo further technical analysis. The suspected drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for examination, a garda spokesperson confirmed.

"Investigations are ongoing," the spokesperson said.
