A Kentucky man who claimed a $167 million Powerball prize last year has been arrested for the fifth time since his windfall, wtvm.com reports.

James Farthing, 51, was taken into custody early Sunday morning in the parking lot of a Walmart in Georgetown, Kentucky, according to court records.

Officers responded after a bystander reported a white Ford Mustang with a temporary tag stopped in the middle of an intersection before pulling into the Walmart lot and parking beside an EV charging station. When officers reached the vehicle, they found it still running.

Farthing was found asleep in the passenger seat. After officers knocked on the window for several minutes, he woke up and appeared to be intoxicated. He told officers that a woman had driven him to the location and left him there.

He was charged with public intoxication.

The Sunday arrest was the latest in a series of legal troubles that began shortly after Farthing collected his multimillion-dollar jackpot. In April 2025, he was arrested in Florida on misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting an officer — charges to which he later pleaded guilty.

In February of this year, Farthing was arrested in Scott County on an intimidation charge, followed by a burglary-related arrest in March. On July 27, he was arrested again on domestic violence charges.

The five arrests span charges ranging from public intoxication and battery to burglary and domestic violence.
