A 5-year-old boy died at hospital after being found unresponsive inside a vehicle at a residential property in Peoria, Arizona, azfamily.com reports. His parents, Anca Sabo and Mihail Sabo, have since been arrested and charged with negligent homicide and child abuse.

The boy was discovered on Sunday afternoon near 70th Avenue and Mariposa Grande Lane, south of Happy Valley Road. Family members removed him from the vehicle and began CPR before officers arrived. He was transported to hospital, where he later died.

According to police, the family had returned home from a baptism for another child at around 1 p.m. Approximately three hours later, at roughly 3:56 p.m., family members noticed the boy was missing and began searching for him. Anca Sabo found him unresponsive in the vehicle shortly afterwards.

State prosecutors said Anca Sabo had been hosting a party at the home and asked her husband to retrieve the boy from the car. Mihail Sabo allegedly delegated the task to another child, who either did not hear or did not recall being given the instruction.

A judge set a secured appearance bond at $150,000 for the couple. They were ordered to have no contact with each other, though supervised contact with their other children was permitted.

The investigation remains active, and no further details have been released by authorities.
