San Jose resident arrested after flagging down officer to report double homicide

A 28-year-old San Jose man was taken into custody on two counts of murder after he approached a police patrol officer on Saturday and stated he had committed a homicide, nbcbayarea.com reports.

The incident began at approximately 5:14 p.m. when the man flagged down the officer. Police responded to the area of Lelong and Alma avenues, where they found a man dead.

The suspect was identified by police as Marcelino Castro, 28, a resident of San Jose. Castro was taken into custody at the scene.

During the subsequent investigation, Castro provided detectives with information about a second homicide. Officers were directed to the area of Autumn Parkway and Coleman Avenue, where a second victim was found dead.

Castro was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on two counts of murder. The motive and circumstances surrounding both deaths remain under investigation, police said.

The two deaths have been recorded as San Jose's 20th and 21st homicides of 2026.
