Second Man Charged in Fatal St. Albans Stabbing of Fresh Meadows Resident

Second Suspect Charged in Linden Boulevard Murder After St. Albans Street Brawl

A second man has been criminally charged in the fatal stabbing of a Fresh Meadows resident following a violent brawl in St. Albans on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 9, qns.com reports.

Jevaughn Morris, 25, of 193rd Street in Jamaica, was arrested by homicide detectives from the 113th Precinct in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 12. He was arraigned later that day on charges of murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and is being held without bail.

Morris's alleged accomplice, Akeem Brown, 30, of 118th Avenue in St. Albans, had been taken into custody as a person of interest shortly after the incident. Brown was subsequently arrested and booked at the 113th Precinct in Jamaica. He was arraigned on Friday, September 11, before Queens Criminal Court Judge Jennifer Saint-Preux on the same charges — murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree — and was also remanded without bail. Both men pleaded not guilty.

The victim, Eugene Lowe, 40, of Parson Boulevard in the Pomonok Houses, was stabbed multiple times on Linden Boulevard near 194th Street at approximately 3:15 p.m. Officers from the 113th Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress and found Lowe unconscious and unresponsive, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to his body. EMS transported him to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the criminal complaint, surveillance video captured the confrontation in a narrow parking lot in front of a row of stores on Linden Boulevard. The footage shows Lowe holding a metal pipe while arguing with a group of five men as the fight broke out. Lowe was seen swinging the pipe at one of the men before Brown and Morris chased him across Linden Boulevard. After catching up to him, the two men punched him in the head, kicked him in the body, and stabbed him multiple times in the torso before fleeing.

Prosecutors say the arrests were based on witness statements provided to the NYPD and the Queens District Attorney's office, the defendants' own statements and admissions, and the recovered surveillance footage.
