A man was struck by bullet fragments and taken to hospital after a fight at an In-N-Out restaurant in Tempe, Arizona, shortly after midnight on September 20, the Tempe Police Department confirmed. Global News Crime reports that the victim was released from hospital a few hours after receiving treatment.

According to police, the incident began when a fight broke out between several men inside the restaurant. One of them produced a firearm, after which a struggle over the weapon ensued. The gun discharged during that struggle, injuring one of the men present.

The identity of the victim and the precise nature of his injuries have not been released by authorities. The suspect fled the scene following the incident, and the search for him remains ongoing, according to NBC affiliate 12News.

Global News Crime stated it reached out to the Tempe Police Department for further comment but had not received a response at time of publication.

The Tempe incident follows a separate and far more deadly attack at an In-N-Out Burger location in Twin Falls, Idaho, in August. A gunman opened fire at that restaurant, killing three people — Ashley Garibay, 23, of Stockton, California; Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Christopher Claunch, 59, of Hagerman, Idaho — and wounding ten in total. The victims were shot inside the restaurant, outside it, on a nearby road, and at an adjacent car charging station.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks identified the gunman as Chad Williams, 24, who shot and killed himself when the attack ended. Hicks said investigators had not established a motive for the Twin Falls shooting.
