Wisconsin Woman Charged with Homicide After Running Over Boyfriend in Racine

Racine Woman Accused of Killing Boyfriend with Car After Midnight Dispute

A 22-year-old Wisconsin woman has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after allegedly running over her boyfriend during a late-night confrontation, Law & Crime reports.

Adasia Jones was charged following the death of 26-year-old Darius Allen, who was struck outside his home in Racine, Wisconsin, early Sunday morning. The Racine Police Department said officers were dispatched to Allen's residence after receiving reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Arriving officers found Allen motionless in the middle of the street. Jones had left the scene before returning, police said.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Racine County Eye, Jones told police she drove to Allen's home after midnight to talk about "issues" in their relationship. She said the conversation turned into a physical altercation, during which Allen allegedly choked her. Jones told investigators that as she got into her car to leave, Allen jumped onto the hood and refused to get off. She said she drove away regardless, and he fell from the vehicle.

Jones told police she had traveled a short distance when she looked back and did not see Allen in the road. She said she then continued driving and struck him, estimating her speed at between 10 and 15 miles per hour at the moment of impact.

Allen's brother, who was present at the scene, told police he witnessed Allen fall from the hood of Jones' car into the street. He said he believed Jones accelerated in the direction of his brother.

Responding officers noted several signs of intoxication in Jones. She allegedly told them, "Ima be real, I'm drunk because he kept me up all night." She also admitted to having consumed two shots of vodka in the hours before getting behind the wheel, according to the complaint, which was also obtained by local NBC affiliate WTMJ.

Allen was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries hours later.

Jones was booked into the Racine County Jail on a $15,000 bond. Court records indicate that if released, she would be required to remain on house arrest with GPS monitoring. Her next scheduled court appearance is October 1.
