Brampton woman's firearms stolen after online romance scam — suspect arrested in Mississauga

A 42-year-old man with over a dozen aliases stole two legally owned guns from a Brampton woman he met online. Jason Randolph Blake Bowden faces seven charges.

Brampton woman targeted in romance scam, two firearms stolen from her home

A career criminal with a two-decade record allegedly used an online romance to gain access to a Brampton woman's home and steal two legally owned firearms, Toronto Sun Crime reports.

The woman had been communicating with the man online for several weeks before he allegedly stole the keys to her residence and gun locker. He then returned to her home and removed both weapons along with ammunition.

Investigators from Peel Regional Police's 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau identified the suspect as Jason Randolph Blake Bowden, 42, of no fixed address. On September 8, officers located him near Dundas St. W and Erin Mills Pkwy. in Mississauga and took him into custody.

Bowden was charged with seven offences, including possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a weapon obtained by crime, breaking and entering and stealing a firearm, and failure to comply with a probation order.

Both stolen firearms and the accompanying ammunition were recovered. Officers also seized multiple fraudulent identification documents and bank cards bearing various names, believed to have been used as aliases. Those aliases include London Valentine Flowers, Cody Young, Adam Bowden, Jason Lafleur, Jason Magnusson, Blake Valentine Genovese, Blake Valentine Magnusson, Ryan John Elliot, Cory Lafleur and David Walter Parkins.

Police describe Bowden as "wanted by several police services across Canada," with a criminal record spanning more than twenty years and involving break-and-enters, thefts and related offences.

Investigators are now working to determine whether additional victims have not yet come forward. Anyone who believes they may have had contact with Bowden or who holds relevant information is asked to contact 22 Division CIB at 905-453-2121, ext. 2233.

Bowden was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
