OPP sergeant with 28 years of service charged with child sexual abuse material possession

A veteran Ontario Provincial Police sergeant has been charged with accessing and possessing child sexual abuse material following an investigation in Alliston, Ont.

Global News Crime reports that the Ontario Provincial Police has charged one of its own sergeants following a child sexual exploitation investigation in Alliston, Ontario.

Chris Weise, 54, was arrested on Sept. 8 and faces two charges: accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

Police executed a search warrant at Weise's residence in June, seizing a number of electronic devices. The investigation subsequently identified him as an OPP sergeant with 28 years of service who is currently on an unrelated leave of absence.

Weise is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on Oct. 8, 2026.
