Seven people were arrested on Saturday night during extensive police operations across Cyprus. A total of 783 vehicles and 1,025 passengers were checked.

According to Cyprus Mail, seven people were arrested on Saturday night during a wide-ranging police operation across the island. The objective was to prevent serious crimes and maintain public order, police announced on Sunday.
The arrests involved various offences: illegal residence on the island, robbery and theft, as well as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
During the night, 783 vehicles and 1,025 passengers in those vehicles were checked. Inspections were also carried out at 65 establishments and 10 violations were recorded.
Traffic police recorded a total of 273 violations, of which 83 concerned excessive speed, whilst 15 vehicles were impounded. A total of 315 breath tests were conducted which resulted in 19 violations, and 82 drug tests were performed, of which three returned positive results.
Night-time operations with an enhanced police presence on the roads continue on a daily basis, with the aim of ensuring public safety, police stated.
