Teenager shot in Brest: eight held in custody, investigation into attempted murder
A 17-year-old youth was struck in the back by gunfire on Tuesday evening in Brest. Eight people have been placed in police custody as part of an investigation into attempted murder in an organised gang context.

A 17-year-old adolescent was shot and wounded on Tuesday evening in Brest, in Finistère, according to France Info. Eight people were placed in police custody as a result. The Brest prosecutor's office opened an investigation into "intentional attempted murder in an organised gang context".
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. The victim was struck in the back by a projectile before being transported to Cavale Blanche hospital. According to the public prosecutor of Brest, the adolescent was, the day after the incident, "in principle medically out of danger". The young man is moreover "adversely known" to police services.
The prosecutor's office indicates that the circumstances are likely to be linked to a "pre-existing dispute between young people from two districts of Brest".
Vehicle flight, arrest and seizures
After the shooting, the suspected perpetrator fled in a vehicle. He was subsequently intercepted by law enforcement, as were seven other people found in two separate vehicles. All eight suspects were placed in police custody. Investigators proceeded to seize the two vehicles as well as a 9 mm calibre holster.
The organised and specialist crime division and the local judicial police service were jointly assigned to the investigation, which was opened in flagrante delicto.
