Gunfire erupted at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday 17 September on Rue Maurice-Thorez, in the immediate vicinity of Bambier school in Montataire, reports oisehebdo.fr. Two adults were wounded and received medical care.
The prosecutor of the Republic for Senlis, Loïc Abrial, confirmed the facts. An investigation has been opened on a flagrant-crime basis for attempted murder, entrusted to the local criminal investigation division of Creil police station.
On social media, users shared photographs showing firefighters and police deployed at the scene shortly after the shooting.
As a precautionary measure, the management of Anatole-France secondary school confined its pupils. In a message sent to parents, it stated: "The information we had indicated gunfire in the vicinity of Bambier school in Montataire. As a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of all pupils and staff, we therefore confined the pupils present in the establishment. The measure was maintained until authorisation from the police to lift the confinement measures."
