Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi (27) must appear before the courts in France after the Versailles Court of Appeal rejected his appeal against an examination order for rape. This is according to RMC and several media outlets, including TV 2.

French authorities had requested the examination order for Hakimi in February. In May, the Paris Saint-Germain player had filed an appeal requesting the case be dismissed. This appeal has now been reviewed and rejected by the French judicial system.

Hakimi has consistently denied the accusations. On Friday morning, he published a message on X in which he stated he was looking forward to being able to explain himself.

– Today, a story that is not mine is being told to the detriment of my family, my life and above all the truth. Sometimes I feel like I have become an easy target, he wrote, adding:

– I have been waiting for this trial since day one. And now I am looking forward to it. Finally, I will be able to tell my story.

The accusations against Hakimi emerged in March 2023. A woman then aged 24 accused him of rape, but the player maintains that there were only mutual hugs and kisses.

The footballer had previously stated he was the victim of an attempted extortion.

– The truth is that when you succeed and everything is going well, you become an easy target for the people around you. This taught me not to trust too many people, he had said.

According to the accusation, the PSG player allegedly paid a woman to come to his home while his wife, from whom he is now divorced, and their children were on holiday.

Subsequently, the woman went to the police station and stated she had been raped by Hakimi. She never personally reported him, but the authorities nonetheless opened an investigation.

The Moroccan has been playing for PSG since then and has enjoyed great sporting success. He previously played for major clubs including Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter.
