Physical education teacher in Pas-de-Calais charged over allegations of rape of seven minors
A PE teacher who worked in several secondary schools in Pas-de-Calais has been held in custody since June, suspected of rape involving at least seven minors between 2012 and 2025.

A physical education and sports teacher who worked in several establishments in Pas-de-Calais was charged and remanded in custody on 12 June, according to TF1 Info. The Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor's office communicated these details to Agence France-Presse on Wednesday 2 September.
Prosecutor Cécile Gressier clarified that a judicial investigation was opened for "rape" and "sexual assault of minors", following several complaints filed against this man in his fifties.
Seven victims, all minors at the time of the alleged acts, have been identified so far. The prosecutor indicated, however, that it "cannot be ruled out" that there are others, and that additional investigations will be conducted for this purpose. The alleged acts span a period from 2012 to 2025, during which the teacher worked in several secondary schools in the department.
The man was also involved in local sports associations, according to the prosecutor's office. "Investigations are continuing" to determine the precise circumstances of the acts and to identify any additional victims, added Cécile Gressier.
The rectorat of the Lille academy confirmed having been "alerted by the gendarmerie" in June. It "immediately" suspended the teacher without pay and clarifies that "steps have been taken to ensure he is no longer in contact with children". The rectorat also assures that it is paying "particular attention to informing, supporting and listening to the educational community of the establishments concerned".
