Cannabis trafficking in Vendôme: six-year prison sentence requested against main suspect
Eight people appeared on Tuesday before the Blois magistrates' court for drug trafficking dismantled in Vendôme in March 2022. Six years' imprisonment was requested against the alleged mastermind of the case.
Six-year prison sentence requested against alleged organiser of cannabis network in Vendôme
The Blois magistrates' court examined on Tuesday 15 September a case of organised drug trafficking in Vendôme, according to lanouvellerepublique.fr. Six years' imprisonment was demanded against the main defendant, considered to be the head of the network.
Everything began on 25 March 2022, when police stopped a Citroën C4 in Vendôme. In a hidden compartment in the vehicle, officers discovered 300 grammes of cannabis resin, packaged in three cake-like blocks. The stop also revealed a semi-automatic pistol of 7.65 calibre, ammunition and a machete.
The driver, identified as Axel S., attempted to flee with his passenger before being quickly arrested. The young man had already been convicted two years earlier in a fraud case settled with gunfire.
Eight people in total were summoned to appear to answer for their role in this trafficking. The hearing was marked, according to one of the defence lawyers, by "speech locked by fear" amongst those implicated, illustrating the pressure exerted within the network.
The verdict has not yet been handed down.
