Police officer seriously injured by cobblestone in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps: Unité union publishes photo
Following a night of violent clashes, a police officer was struck on the head by a cobblestone. The Unité union released a photo of his injury.

The Unité police union published, on Sunday 20 September, an unblurred photo showing the head wound of a police officer struck by a cobblestone during violence the previous night in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps (Indre-et-Loire), according to cnews.fr.
"Whilst some discuss police interventions, our colleagues experience them and sometimes in their own flesh," the union wrote on its social networks whilst sharing the image.
In total, nine members of the police forces were injured during this night of clashes.
Violence triggered following a collision between a police car and a motorcyclist
The incidents erupted in the car park of the Rabaterie shopping centre after a police vehicle struck a motorcycle ridden by a young man. According to the authorities, the latter was travelling without a helmet, engaging in illegal street racing and had refused to comply.
Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced that "a reinforced security operation will be put in place again to maintain public order".
Political reactions
Presidential candidate Marine Le Pen expressed "her support for injured police officers and all police forces mobilised to guarantee the safety and protection of the population". She also recalled that "the Republic does not have to back down in the face of those who spoil the lives of residents and impose their law".
