Attempted murder in Turin, 54-year-old Moroccan citizen arrested
A 54-year-old man of Moroccan origin has been detained by the Turin State Police on suspicion of attempted murder. The arrest was validated by the Judicial Authority, which ordered him remanded in custody in prison.
The assault took place at the end of May, during the night, in Largo Giulio Cesare at the corner with via Volpiano. A patrol from the Flying Squad found a person lying on the ground, struck by a cutting weapon on the side. The injured man was rushed to San Giovanni Bosco hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery in intensive care.
Investigations conducted by the Barriera Milano Police Station made it possible to reconstruct the sequence of events. Surveillance footage showed that during a discussion that arose from motives connected to drug dealing, the suspect drew a knife, pointing it at the victim's throat. A third person invited the latter to move away, but the attacker followed them to via Volpiano, where they struck them with a stab wound.
Investigators identified the suspect in an abandoned van that they used as a residence. At the time of arrest, they were wearing the same clothes as on the day of the assault, with traces of blood still visible on their shirt.
The criminal proceedings are currently in the preliminary investigation phase. The presumption of innocence of the suspect remains in place until final sentence.
