Polish police have confiscated a record batch of heroin worth nearly 52 million euros at Gdynia port. Three people have been arrested.

At Gdynia port on the Baltic Sea, officers seized over one tonne of heroin with a market value of approximately 220 million Polish zlotys, or nearly 52 million euros. The operation was organised by investigators after receiving information in March from British authorities about a planned shipment from the United Arab Emirates.
The narcotics were hidden in transport containers beneath a layer of decorative paving stones. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the case. Two men and a woman – all Polish citizens – have been charged.
The head of the interior ministry Marcin Kierwiński described this operation as the largest of its kind in over a decade. According to the press statement, it is one of the most serious blows dealt to international smugglers in the history of Polish police.
