Investigators discovered fragments of foetuses in the garden of a property near Rzeszów. A 57-year-old pathologist, the former owner of the property, has been arrested.

Fragments of human foetuses were discovered by investigators in the garden of a property located in the village of Lutoryż, approximately 12 kilometres from Rzeszów in south-eastern Poland, according to the PAP news agency.
New owners of the property came across large quantities of medical waste in the garden during excavation works. Among the findings was a human foetus and other remains which may have originated from human foetuses at an early stage of development, a prosecutor's spokesman reported.
In the past the property belonged to a doctor. Authorities arrested a 57-year-old woman working as a pathologist who was the previous owner of the property. The suspect is being investigated for the desecration of human remains and illegal disposal of hazardous waste; these offences carry a penalty of imprisonment from two to twelve years.
The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Rzeszów is conducting an investigation into the matter, and among the waste found in the garden were also paraffin blocks and specimen slides.
