Approximately 191,500 lei — equivalent to around 40,000 euros — were found buried in the yard of a home in Dâmbovița county, as part of raids targeting a group suspected of loan sharking. The money was wrapped in rags, bags and sacks, hidden in a hole dug in the garden.

The operation took place on 2 September, when police from the Dâmbovița County Police Inspectorate, under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to Răcari Court, executed two home search warrants in the localities of Odobești and Braniștea.

"Police… implemented two home search warrants in the localities of Odobești and Braniștea, at the homes of two people suspected of committing the offence of loan sharking. Following the raids, 191,500 lei were discovered buried in the yard of one of the targeted persons' homes," representatives of the IGPR stated.

Eight people were brought in for questioning, of whom six had the status of injured parties. Gendarmes from the Dâmbovița County Gendarmes Inspectorate provided operational support during the operation. Investigations continue under the coordination of the prosecutor handling the case.
