Kent Police have taped off sections of Middle Row and Lower High Street in Ashford after a man was left in a critical condition following a serious assault, kentonline.co.uk reports.

The incident occurred at 5.12am on 13 September in Lower High Street, close to a water fountain and the St Johns Lane alleyway. The man, believed to be in his 30s, suffered serious head injuries and was subsequently transported to a London hospital.

Officers were seen guarding the cordoned area adjacent to Gould Harrison Estate Agents while the investigation continued into the afternoon.
