Over 20,000 prescription drugs seized in Rusholme drugs bust, two arrested

Greater Manchester Police seized more than 20,000 prescription drugs, cannabis and cash following a stop in Rusholme. Two men in their 20s remain in custody.

More than 20,000 prescription drugs have been recovered during a police operation in Rusholme, Manchester, bbc.com reports.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police stopped a man on Park Crescent on Monday evening after he was observed acting suspiciously. Following his arrest, police searched a nearby property linked to the inquiry and found what they believe to be in excess of 20,000 prescription pills, among them diazepam, pregabalin and tramadol.

Cannabis, ecstasy tablets and £2,300 in cash were also seized during the search.

Two men, both in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A, B and C drugs with intent to supply. Both remain in custody.

Chief Inspector Rob MacGregor said officers had recovered a "substantial quantity of suspected illegal drugs" following the initial stop. He added that the illegal supply of drugs could have a "devastating impact" on communities and confirmed the investigation was ongoing.

Police have asked anyone with relevant information to contact the force directly.
