Two men aged 23 and 33 have been arrested and bailed over a daylight sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in Wrockwardine Wood, Telford. West Mercia Police continue to appeal for witnesses.

Two men have been arrested and released on bail in connection with a sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in Telford, shropshirestar.com reports.

West Mercia Police confirmed the assault took place in broad daylight on Thursday 28 May on a footpath near Laburnum Road and Stafford Road, in Wrockwardine Wood, close to Oakengates. Officers issued a public appeal for information over the weekend.

The two men, aged 23 and 33, were subsequently arrested and bailed. A force spokesperson said: "However, we are continuing to appeal to the public for any witnesses or anyone with any information to please report it to police immediately."

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of average build, wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Detective Inspector Catherine Taylor said: "We understand how an incident of this nature will cause concern for the local community. Extensive enquiries have been ongoing since Thursday to identify the man responsible."

Taylor added that officers are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area on Thursday afternoon and may have seen the suspect before or after the assault. She specifically appealed to drivers: "If you were travelling in the area in a vehicle with a dashcam, we would like to see that footage to see if it captures a potential suspect."
