A Canadian woman has been charged in the United States with three counts of voter fraud, ctvnews.ca reports, after allegedly casting ballots in U.S. elections while not a citizen.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for Florida identified the accused as Christiane Vinette Young, 75, who voted in the 2024 general election, the 2022 general election, and the 2022 primary elections, according to prosecutors.

Vinette Young was also illegally present in the United States at the time she voted, the Attorney's Office stated.

If convicted on all three counts, she faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations. Vinette Young did not respond to a request for comment.

The U.S. Attorney's Office noted that she is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
