A woman who alleged Jay-Z raped her at age 13 has admitted in a court filing that her accusations were false and that she never met the rapper.

A woman who alleged that rapper Jay-Z sexually assaulted her when she was 13 years old has admitted she made "false accusations" and had never met the artist, according to a court document reported on by Jamaica Observer on Friday.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, had previously claimed that Jay-Z — born Shawn Carter — and disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs assaulted her following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000. Jay-Z denied the allegation, calling it a "fictional tale." The woman dropped her civil lawsuit against both men in 2025.
"I have never met or spoken to Mr Carter. Mr Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct towards me," the woman stated in the court document. "There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter."
She further acknowledged the impact of her allegations: "I understand that my false accusations have caused Mr Carter immense pain, suffering and damage that can never be fully undone."
The statement was filed by Jay-Z's legal team as part of a counter lawsuit against the woman and her attorneys — a case that is now being dismissed.
The woman said she came forward after seeing a Facebook advertisement seeking people with sexual assault claims against Combs, who is currently in prison on prostitution charges and has faced numerous allegations in recent years. "The ad triggered memories of being raped when I was 13 years old," she said, explaining she then contacted a law firm.
She added that she does not recall authorising lawyers to file the legal complaint in 2024, which she later withdrew after developing "doubts" about her claims. The partially redacted document indicates the woman has experienced mental health difficulties.
