Puna Man Arrested for Terroristic Threatening in Hilo After Armed Standoff

Lake Charles Lively, 37, was arrested in Hilo on Sept. 17 after allegedly making threats while armed. He fled on foot before officers located him hours later.

Hilo man arrested after firearms threat, overnight foot chase

Hawaiipolice.gov reports that Hawai'i Island police arrested 37-year-old Lake Charles Lively in connection with a firearms incident in Hilo on the evening of Wednesday, 16 September 2026.

At 11:30 p.m., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Iloko Street following a report of a male in possession of a firearm making threatening statements. Upon their arrival, Lively fled the area on foot.

Officers conducted area checks throughout the early morning hours, including near the 200 block of Haili Street. At 7:22 a.m. on Thursday, 17 September, officers located Lively on foot in the 600 block of Ponohawai Street. He was taken into custody without incident.

Lively was transported to the East Hawai'i Detention Center in Hilo, where he remains held pending investigation.
