Sacramento knife attack: man stabs mother and daughter in garage, shot dead by police

Newly released surveillance footage captured the final movements of 23-year-old Fareyeshyi Allahdin on July 15, moments before he entered a Sacramento family's garage on Diablo Drive and stabbed two women. NY Post Metro reports that Sacramento police collected the video as part of their investigation into the attack, which ended when officers shot Allahdin dead to stop the assault.

The footage first shows Allahdin entering a Starbucks on the same morning, around 6:30 a.m., carrying a kitchen knife. He walked behind the store counter as employees retreated to a back room and barricaded the door. In a 9-1-1 call, one employee told dispatchers the man was "banging on everything."

"He entered behind our counter and was trying to push into our back door," the employee said. "We had to barricade it."

Allahdin then left the coffee shop and was recorded jogging down Diablo Drive, knife in hand, in the area of the 5700 block. He turned into an open residential garage, where a 63-year-old woman was attempting to get into her car. He intercepted her and began stabbing her, according to police.

The woman's 26-year-old daughter heard her mother's screams and ran to help. She pulled Allahdin away from her mother, at which point he shifted his attack to the daughter. Video shows Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies arriving while the daughter was still struggling with him. Officers ordered Allahdin to drop the knife; when he continued stabbing her, they opened fire and killed him.

Fire personnel pronounced Allahdin dead at the scene. Both women were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. No officers were injured.

The weapon recovered was a silver kitchen-style knife with a blade measuring seven to eight inches.

Sgt. Edward Igoe, a Sacramento County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said investigators found no connection between Allahdin and the family. "Absolutely no relationship between any of them," Igoe said. "This monster just saw an open garage, saw a victim and immediately started attacking."

Police described the stabbings as random. A neighbor who spoke to local station KCRA said the incident unsettled residents on the street. "I had my garage open at the same time — I got a wife, kids, so it's just kind of hitting close to home," the neighbor said.
