Second arrest made in Georgetown, SC shooting that left teen with multiple gunshot wounds

Fifth suspect charged in Georgetown attempted murder case

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a July 7, 2026, shooting on the 1900 block of Butts Street in Georgetown, South Carolina, wtma.com reports.

Dy'qarius Ty'jah Armstrong faces charges of attempted murder, shooting into a dwelling, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to the Georgetown Police Department.

Officers responding to the scene found 19-year-old Jeremiah McNeal suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Armstrong's arrest is the latest development in an ongoing investigation that has resulted in multiple charges. On July 24, police arrested 19-year-old Qua'lik Ky Leemi Lazaer Flowers following a search warrant executed at 20 Avant Court in Georgetown. During that search, investigators recovered a 9mm handgun believed to have evidentiary value. Flowers faces the same three charges as Armstrong.

A second search warrant was subsequently executed in the Kent Road area as part of the continuing investigation.

Two juvenile suspects have also been taken into custody. Georgetown Police Chief Nelson E. Brown confirmed that one juvenile turned himself in on July 25 and faces identical charges — attempted murder, shooting into a dwelling, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. A separate juvenile was taken into custody on July 22 and transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia. Officials have not released that juvenile's name.
